Why do we need "relational" schools? And what effects do they have on learning brains?

In April 2021, I had the delight to present at the Relational Schools World eConference 2021. It was a great experience to discuss with participants and other trainers on the restorative and relational practices that are extending all over the world in schools serving all grades and connect on lessons learned, shared experiences, concerns and questions.

In this presentation below (41 min), I invite us to review some elemental notions of how our brains evolved and operate. And explore how a relational and restorative approach is critical to help our brains get "back" to learning mode and what happens in other "brain states".

I will present key core concepts from the triune brain to the Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges) and how it impacts where we also stand ourselves in the Social Discipline Window (IIRP).

We will explore a new possible "Resilient Brain Cycle" to help us not only navigate discipline and adversity moment but maybe even create a pathway for relational "healing" and reclaim parts of our expressions and belonging that were left in our unsurvivable (trauma) states.

Hope you’ll join me on this presentation! Be in touch with any questions, feedback or if you want a short check-in or consult for your school or organization. You can sign-up to receive my newsletter as well to keep posted of future events.
