DC educators and school staff

Join me and my colleagues Tone Carter and Yazid Jackson for this two-part PD on Restorative Discipline.

This two-part workshop is designed to build the capacity of school leaders, teachers, and support staff in their approach to behaviors during SY20-21 when school communities will be facing unprecedented challenges. During the first part of the workshop, participants will review responsive restorative techniques and strategies to effectively communicate with students when they disrupt community norms or expectations in virtual and in-person settings, examine underlying assumptions and biases, explore the ramifications of changes to school expectations and compliance, and understand the connection between proactive community-building and response to behaviors. The second part of training will give participants the opportunity to gain skills and tools to create plans for their school that include the concepts of Fair Process, an inclusionary practice that allows for staff and students to be actively involved when there has been harm to the community.

The workshop is intended for educators, school administrators, and support staff. The training will take place at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and resume at 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

All registration go through Restorative DC and OSSE at: http://www.restorativedc.org/events/
